The PRCA is celebrating its 20th birthday, and we have a lot of exciting news and events coming up in honor of this big year!
We’ll provide a financial update of the organization, take nominations and elect board members and officers, and recap the activities and exhibits that have kept us busy.

We appreciate the continued support of our community and members like you who have assisted us with making it to this huge landmark anniversary for a grassroots arts org like us. Cheers to 20 years!

This meeting is open to the public.

Exhibition Theme: Making Your Place
The theme focuses on art that defines your place and the qualities that distinguish it from other places. The theme can be as broad as your region and its ecology, physical aspects, climate, or particular nature. The theme can be as narrow as your physical space and your unique response to place.

Submission Details
Open to all artists residing in Minnesota, South Dakota, or North Dakota.
Art in all media is eligible, and must be original to the artist.

2D work may not be larger than 3’x3’, 3D work may not be larger than 3’x3’x3’.
Artwork must be exhibition ready, and not weigh more than 50 pounds.
A maximum of three pieces may be submitted per artist. 

Please include a short artist’s statement about your response to the theme. This will be posted next to your work.

Entries will be juried by the PRCA Exhibition Committee from the electronic images submitted. 
The $100 Best in Show award will be announced during the reception. 

For each piece submitted please include:
Title of piece
Size
Media
Description of techniques used if relevant
Sale price or NFS (not for sale)
Image file name

Image files must be in .jpg format, a minimum of 300 dpi and, at most, 6 inches on the longest side.  The image file name should be in the format: A_titleofpiece.jpg or B_titleofpiece.jpg etc.  Abbreviate as needed.

Image submission deadline: Friday, May 6
Selection notification: by May 14, 2022
Artwork delivery dates: May 28 – June 3, 2022*
Reception: Friday, July 8, 2022, 5-7pm
Exhibition dates: June 9 – July 16, 2022
Pick-up week: July 21 – 23, 2022*
Shipping week: July 25 – 29, 2022
Any remaining pieces will become property of PRCA after July 30, 2022.
*Please send an email to prcaexhibits@gmail.com if you are unable to deliver/pick-up artwork during open hours.

Sales, Shipping, Liability & Insurance
Selected work will remain in the exhibit through the run of the show.
A 25% commission will be charged on all sales.
Your entry grants PRCA permission to photograph your work and use your images for promotional or education purposes only. 
All scheduling, shipping costs, return shipping labels, and pick-up charges will be the responsibility of the artist.
Insurance is the responsibility of the artist and the shipper.
PRCA is not liable for any damage or loss occurring in transit or during the run of the exhibition.

Celebrating the PRCA’s 20th anniversary in 2022!

The Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Diane Trew has been selected as the new Gallery Coordinator for the PRCA. Diane graduated from the East Carolina University with a BFA in Textile Design. She has worked in North Carolina as a weaver with a non-profit program that supported a women’s shelter. 
After moving to Minnesota she opened a gift shop in Benson called Swift Weavers. The shop sold scrapbooking/altered art supplies and yarn. In addition Diane had 8 looms there and conducted “weave your own project” classes.  She is an active rag weaver and fiber artist. In 2009 Diane applied for and was accepted into the Upper Minnesota Art Crawl known as the Meander. 

She is also interested in the pattern drawing method known as Zentangle drawing and in 2019 became one of their Certified Zentangle Teachers (CZT’s). In 2021, she taught ArtShare classes in Zentangle for the PRCA  to adults and children. Her work is exhibited in the Prairie Art and Gifts gallery. 

Diane continues to pursue  life as an artist while working part-time. The PRCA is very pleased to welcome Diane to her new position and to the greater Morris community!

Last year supporters like you made our Give to the Max Day incredibly successful. We hope that you will join us again on November 18th for Give to the Max Day and help us continue to connect our community by supporting local artists and creating spaces to experience the arts in Stevens County.

Your donation on Give to the Max Day also may help us receive an additional donation of $1,000. How? Every gift made on GiveMN.org will be entered into an hourly drawing for a $1,000 GiveMN Golden Ticket to be awarded to a nonprofit organization–that could be us! Every little bit counts for us nonprofits, and the bonus drawings GiveMN awards are significant funds that can help us with our programming, operations, and more. We’re looking for musicians to compete in the Prairie Pioneer Day Talent Contest on Saturday, September 11th at 1:00 pm at the Stevens County Fair Grounds. CASH PRIZES awarded to winners!

We expect to have solo acts and group acts. Contestants may compete as part of more
than one act. The contest is open to all amateur singers and musicians of all ages!

Join us for a reception August 28 from 1 – 2 PM for this exhibit featuring a variety of artwork by our participants of this summer’s Prairie Art Camp for kids!

Prairie Art Camp is a multi-day camp for elementary aged students and encourages kids to create, innovate, investigate, and imagine through a variety of visual and performing arts sessions led by local artists.

Please join us for our annual meeting at the gallery Thursday July 15 at 6pm. While our usual spring meeting was slightly delayed, our annual meeting is still happening, and it will be another very important meeting after the unusual and challenging year covering May 2020-June 2021. 

We’ll provide a financial update of the organization, take nominations and elect board members and officers, and recap the activities, exhibits, and all the other great stuff that we’ve been hard at work with behind the scenes!
