February 1 & 2- Lisa Johannes: Jewelry Trunk Sale

Filed under: General — PRCA @ 3:16 pm

Feb 1 & 2: Lisa Johannes presents a Jewelry Trunk Sale. Friday, Feb 1 from 3:00-5:00 pm and Saturday, Feb 2 from 10:00-12:00am. The sale is here at the PRCA 630 Atlantic Ave. Morris. The last time we saw Lisa Johannes in Morris, she was up on a scaffold, painting a mural on the dome of the Stevens County Historical Museum. Now she comes to our town with her jewelry trunk show! Well known in the upper Midwest for her landscape paintings and her murals, Lisa began making jewelry in the mid-90’s when she owned the Mercantile Art Gallery in downtown Morris. Jewelry is her specialty at this time and her art can be found in the most up-scale shops around. She is represented in the store at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, MN, the Kohler Art Center at Sheboygan, WI, the Flying Pig at Algoma, WI, Avenue Art in Appleton, WI, Ciucci Shoe Salon in Kohler, WI, the Quarter House Gallery in Cedar Rapids, IA, Zandbros in Fargo, ND, Bead Jam in New London, MN, the River Edge Gallery in Mishicott, WI, and PRCA in Morris, MN. Come to PRCA and visit with Lisa, get her ideas about what looks great and what is “in”, and most of all, view the amazing amount of jewelry that she will have with her for this event.

February 3- New Exhibit! Folded Art!

Filed under: General — PRCA @ 3:06 pm

The PRCA , 630 Atlantic Ave Morris, presents an exhibit by Ashby artist, Carol Ulrich for the month of February, called Folded Art. This is an art form which combines elements of Origami, and painting, and the results are interesting combinations of the two - boxes and fans, wall art and leaves, vases and hanging dry-flower pots. A reception will be held at the gallery on Sunday Feb 3 from 2-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

I come from a family of artists, so it is no surprise that I have a strong interest in art. It has brought much joy to me and to many members of my extended family through many generations. Through the years, my art has reflected the places I have lived - Iowa, Madagascar, South Africa, and now Minnesota, and places I have visited - India and Europe. But even if I had stayed in Iowa all my life, I still would have seen all the beauty I needed there to inspire me. I see beauty all around me every day; in the shape and color of an apple, or a coffee cup, in the reflections of wild grass in the water. I have taken many art courses and classes through the years, and am always enthused to learn new techniques and experiment with different mediums. I will never stop learning and exploring. I love it! Recently, I came up with the idea while lying in bed one night, of combining Origami and painting. This exhibit is the result of that thought.– Carol Ulrich
